45 second: Nominations are being accepted now and until February 29th for the first Poet Laureate of Mendocino County. Nominees will be asked to submit applications in March and be interviewed in April. The Laureate selected will be honored at a Mendocino County Board of Supervisors meeting in May. The person selected as poet Poet Laureate will be honored at a Mendocino County Board of Supervisors meeting in May. Anyone can make a nomination and poets can nominate themselves. This is an official honorary position in which the Poet Laureate will serve a term of 2 years. The Poet Laureate will be expected to appear at some public functions and engage with the broader community. How the Poet Laureate will do this will be defined by that person’s own creative process.
